Neighbours setting a long table in a green garden

GIVE · Giveology

The art and scienceof giving.

What tends to help, said plainly. Most of it costs nothing but an hour.

  1. Kindness starts with showing up.

A lift, a meal, a visit, an hour. Being there is the gift. The words matter less than the door you knock on.

    Small acts

  2. Be specific.

“Thursday at six, a lasagne, I will leave it on the step” helps more than “let me know if you need anything.” A specific offer is easy to say yes to.

    Meals that travel well

  3. Near beats far.

The people who can help most are usually a street, a school gate or a shift away. Start with the room you already belong to.

    HIVE · Belong

  4. Steady beats loud.

One big week fades. A year of small turns, shared between enough people that nobody burns out, is what carries someone through.

    Tree of Hope

  5. Look after the giver.

Your own rest is part of it. Give what you can keep giving, and say so when you need a week off.

One specific offer,to one person.

Think of one person who is having a hard month. Name a day, a time and a thing, and send it. Nothing more is needed to begin.
