Move between episodes
When one episode ends and the next one is about to start, stand up. Three minutes of moving before you press play.
An evening in front of a screen is one of life's comforts, and it does not need giving up. What it can do without is the three hours without standing. The gap between one episode and the next is a natural break, already built in.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
When an episode ends, pause before the next one starts and stand up.
Walk once round the room or to the kitchen and back. Fill a glass of water while you are there.
Before you sit down, march on the spot for a minute, swing your arms gently, or roll your shoulders back ten times.
Sit back down and press play. Do the same at the end of the next one.
The reason
Why it helps
Long, unbroken stretches of sitting are hard on the body, even for people who are active at other times. Breaking them up with a few minutes of light movement is one of the simplest changes there is. Hanging it on the end of an episode means the reminder arrives by itself.
A gentle variation
If standing is hard, do it sitting: lift each knee in turn ten times, circle your ankles, and reach your arms up and out. If you are watching a film, stand up at the halfway point.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Make it the rule of the sofa: whoever is watching stands up at the end of each episode. If you watch with someone you care for, help them stand and take a slow lap of the room together.
Try it today
Tonight, at the end of each episode, stand up and move for three minutes before you press play again.
