Bring a platenext door
Make a little extra of whatever you are cooking tonight, and take one plate to someone close by.
Not a casserole, not a project. Whatever you were already making, one portion more, carried a few doors down. Food is one of the oldest ways neighbours look after each other.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Think of one person nearby who might like a dinner they did not have to make: someone new, someone tired, someone on their own.
Make one more portion of tonight's meal. Put it in a box or a jar you do not need back.
Write a short note: what it is, the day you made it, and that there is nothing to return.
Knock, or leave it on the step and send a message. Keep it short and easy to say yes to.
The reason
Why it helps
It costs very little, and it says something people do not always know how to say out loud: I noticed you. A plate is easier to accept than an offer of help, because it asks nothing back. And it often starts a quiet back-and-forth that turns a street into somewhere you know.
A gentle variation
If cooking extra is too much this week, bring something simple instead: good bread, a few pieces of fruit, a jar of soup from a shop.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Do it with a child or a friend, so it becomes a thing you do together. If you are part of a circle, take turns, so one household is covered for the week.
Try it today
Tonight, make one extra portion, put it in a box with a short note, and leave it with one person nearby.
