One pottwo dinners
Cook one pot on a quieter evening, and the busy one later in the week already has its dinner.
A soup, a stew, a pan of something with rice. Made once, eaten twice. The second dinner is the gift you give a later, harder day.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Pick an evening that has a little room in it, and one simple pot you know: a soup, a chilli, a lentil stew, a tray of roast vegetables.
Make twice what you need. Most pots take the extra without any extra work.
Eat tonight's half. Let the rest cool, then cover it and put it in the fridge or freezer the same evening.
Write on the lid what it is and the day you made it, and choose the night it is for.
The reason
Why it helps
The hardest part of dinner on a long day is deciding and starting. A pot already made takes both away. It also changes the shape of the week a little: there is one evening you know you will be looked after, even if the person who did it was you, three days ago.
A gentle variation
If a whole pot is too much, cook double of one part: twice the rice, twice the roast vegetables. Half a head start is still a head start.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Cook it with someone and split the second pot between two homes. Or, if you are in a tree or a circle, make the second dinner for the household that needs it most this week.
Try it today
This week, choose one quieter evening, make twice as much of one pot you know, and put the second half away, labelled, for a busier night.
