Sit downfor one meal
One meal today, at a table or by a window, with nothing else to do while you eat it.
Not a better meal. The same meal, sat down for. This is the smallest version of looking after yourself that still feels like something.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Choose one meal today. It can be breakfast, lunch or the late supper after everyone else is done.
Put it on a plate and take it to a place you like: the table, a step in the sun, a chair by the window.
Leave the phone in another room, or face down and out of reach.
Eat it slowly enough to notice what it tastes like. When it is gone, sit for one more minute before you get up.
The reason
Why it helps
Eating on the move makes the day feel like one long errand. Sitting down marks a pause that belongs to you, and it is often the only one in a busy day. People who sit for a meal tend to notice it more and enjoy it more, which is reason enough.
A gentle variation
If a whole meal is out of reach, do it with a cup of tea and a piece of toast. The sitting is the practice, not the size of the plate.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Ask one person to sit with you for it, even for ten minutes. You do not need to talk. If they are far away, eat at the same time on a call.
Try it today
Choose one meal today. Put it on a plate, take it to a place you like, leave the phone elsewhere and eat it sitting down.
