For a community

A room lends its name and its door.

A room is a community with a name people trust and a door they already walk through: a school, a club, a team, a workplace, a faith community, a street. A tree needs a room. It does not pay and is not paid. The room is the place, not the till.

Who a room is

The people who already cover for each other.

A tree can be called by the room’s name, in the room’s own words, because the room said yes in writing. Otherwise the tree carries the place, not you.

  • A school

    The school tree

A class, a year group, the parents at the gate.

  • A club or a team

    The Legion tree

The Saturday league, the running club, the choir, the lodge.

  • A workplace

    The night shift’s tree

A floor, a shift, a shop. The people who already cover for each other.

  • A faith community

    St Mark’s tree

A church, a mosque, a synagogue, a temple, a meeting. Any faith, or none, in the words the room would use.

  • A neighbourhood

    The 33411 tree

    A street, a building, a ZIP.

What a room does

Three things, and that is the whole of it.

  1. You lend your name.

The tree can be called by it: the school tree, the Legion tree, St Mark’s tree. Only with your written yes.

  2. You lend a door.

The connectors, the people Kim writes to first, are usually yours: whoever asked for help, and whoever leads the room. They share the tree into their own groups, and that is how the circle forms.

  3. You lend a date.

The tree is given on a day, and someone from the front may say so, once.

What it never means

You are the place, not the till.

  • No moneyThe room does not pay and is not paid. Nothing is collected in the room, at the door, or in your name. No table, no envelope, no code on a screen.
  • No invoicesYour name is never on a bill, a receipt or a contract. The only company on paper is the one behind this service.
  • No askingThe room never asks anyone for money and is never asked to. Seats and roots are bought on tree.one, by people and businesses who chose to, from us. You are the place, not the till.
  • No recordsWe do not take your membership list, your directory, or anyone’s details from you. The circle is built by the connectors, by hand, from people who already know the family.

What you can say

A whole announcement, if you want one.

“We are hosting a tree this year. It is given on the first. If you know the family, there is a seat for you at tree.one.”

Nothing in it asks for money, because nothing in it is about money. Change the date and the name to your own.

Starting a tree

The gift is the community.

If someone in your room is facing a hard year and has already asked for help, you can start their tree yourself. Kim prepares it, you share it, and the five days begin when you say. The person and their family never pay and are never counted.

Your next step

Host a tree in your room.

Kim prepares it; you share it. One person from the room is enough to begin.
