A homework spot
One regular place and time for homework, with what they need to hand and an adult nearby.
Homework can become a daily battle. Part of the struggle is often practical: no clear time, no clear place, and no pencil when you need one. A settled spot and a regular time take some of the friction out, and leave more energy for the work itself.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Choose a place together: the kitchen table, a desk, a quiet corner. It should have good light and few distractions.
Keep a box of what they need nearby: pencils, paper, a ruler, a charger if they need a device.
Agree a regular time that suits your family, after a snack and a break, not straight through the door.
Stay nearby doing your own quiet task, available for questions but not doing the work for them.
The reason
Why it helps
A regular time and place can turn homework into a habit rather than a daily negotiation. Having an adult nearby helps many children stay on task and ask for help when stuck. Doing your own task alongside shows that focused work is ordinary.
A gentle variation
If your child finds homework very hard, or it is causing distress, talk to their teacher. For teenagers, agree the time together and let them decide where, as long as it works.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
If siblings have homework too, have everyone work at the same table at the same time, with a shared break in the middle.
Try it today
This week, choose one homework spot with your child, and fill a box with what they need.
