Find your nextshared yes
Choose something to enjoy together without guessing what the other person wants: each of you names three, and you look for the overlap.
Couples, friends and families often fall into doing what nobody chose. This practice finds one thing you both want, in ten minutes, without guessing.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Sit down with one person: a partner, a friend, a grown-up child.
Each of you writes three small things you would enjoy doing together in the next week. Small means an hour or less: a walk, a film, a breakfast out.
Swap lists. Circle anything that appears on both, or anything you would happily say yes to on theirs.
Choose one, and put a day and a time on it before you get up.
The reason
Why it helps
Guessing what someone else wants is tiring, and often wrong. Writing it down takes the guessing away, and finding the overlap means you both chose it. A plan with a day on it is far more likely to happen than a vague we should, and it gives the week something to look forward to.
A gentle variation
If writing feels too formal, each say three things out loud while you wash up, and find the overlap together.
