Jobs everyone can do
A short list of household jobs matched to each person's age, so the work of the home is shared and children feel useful.
In many homes one or two adults do almost everything. Children, even small ones, can do more than we expect, and many enjoy being trusted with a real job. A simple list, matched to each person, shares the load and helps everyone feel part of the household.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Write down the jobs that happen every week: setting the table, feeding a pet, sorting laundry, putting toys away, taking out the recycling, watering plants.
Sit down together and match each job to someone who can do it, with help at first if needed. Let children choose some of their own.
Show each new job once, slowly, and then let them do it their way. A table set unevenly is still a table set.
Put the list where everyone can see it, and swap jobs around every month or so, so nobody is stuck with the one they dislike.
The reason
Why it helps
Shared jobs take some weight off the adults and teach practical skills. Many children feel more capable and more connected when their contribution is real and noticed. Letting them do it their way builds confidence more than doing it for them.
A gentle variation
If someone in the home has a disability or illness, choose jobs that fit what they can do on a good day and a hard day. For a very young child, one job is plenty, and doing it alongside you is part of the fun.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Do the first week of jobs at the same time, all together, with music on. Thank each person for their part by name at the end of the week.
Try it today
This week, sit down with your children and give each person one household job that is theirs.
