One songall the way through
Choose one song and do nothing else for its length. Four minutes, start to finish.
Most music now plays in the background of something else. This is the opposite: one song in the foreground, the way you listened when you were young.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Choose a song you love, or one you have always meant to hear properly.
Sit or lie somewhere comfortable. Put the phone face down once the song is playing.
Listen all the way through without skipping, checking or doing a job. If your mind wanders, come back to one sound: the voice, the bass, the drums.
When it ends, let the quiet sit for a few breaths before you move on.
The reason
Why it helps
It is a short, complete thing in a day full of unfinished things. Giving one song your whole attention is a way of resting the part of you that is always half-listening for the next task. And songs heard properly tend to stay with you, which makes them easier to come back to on a harder day.
A gentle variation
If sitting still is too much, walk to it: one song, one stretch of street, no other noise.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
