Saying no kindly
Practise a short, kind way to say no, so you can protect your time and energy without damaging the relationship.
Saying yes to everything can leave you tired and resentful. Saying no can feel unkind, especially to people we care about. A simple, warm way of saying no lets you protect your time while keeping the relationship strong.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Notice the requests you often agree to and then regret.
Choose a simple, kind phrase: thank you for asking, I cannot this time. Or: I would love to, but I do not have the energy this week.
Say it without a long explanation. A short reason is fine; an apology is not required.
If it fits, offer what you can do instead: I cannot come on Saturday, but I could call you on Sunday.
The reason
Why it helps
Protecting your time and energy helps you show up well for the things you do say yes to. A kind no is clearer than a reluctant yes. Many people find others respect a clear answer more than they expected.
A gentle variation
If you are a caregiver, saying no to extra demands can be essential to avoid burning out. If saying no in person feels hard, try it first in a message.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Practise with a friend or partner: one asks, one says no kindly, then swap.
Try it today
This week, say no kindly to one request you would normally agree to and regret.
