Wear the thing you are saving
The good coat, the necklace, the shirt with the tags still on. Wear it on an ordinary Tuesday.
Many wardrobes hold something being saved for a special occasion: a favourite scarf, a piece of jewellery, a good pair of shoes. The occasion seldom comes, and the thing stays in its box. Wearing it on an ordinary day makes the day a little special instead.
The steps
Four small steps,in your own time.
Look through your wardrobe, drawers or jewellery box for one thing you love but rarely wear because it is too good.
Choose an ordinary day this week to wear it: a trip to the shops, a day at home, a visit.
Wear it and notice how you feel. If someone comments, tell them why you chose it.
Put it back somewhere you will see it, rather than at the back. Choose another saved thing for next week.
The reason
Why it helps
The things we love are meant to be enjoyed. Wearing them on ordinary days adds a small pleasure to everyday life, and can be a reminder that today counts too. It also means clothes and jewellery get worn rather than outgrown or forgotten.
A gentle variation
If the saved thing is very delicate or valuable, wear it at home for an evening meal or a video call. If it no longer fits or suits you, pass it to someone who will wear it.

WE · TRIBE
Try itwith someone.
Encourage someone else to wear their saved thing too, and go somewhere together. If you care for someone, help them put on the brooch, watch or scarf they love, even on a day at home.
Try it today
This week, wear one thing you have been saving for a special occasion on an ordinary day.
